Monetize what you know

1 Comment 17 May 2010

All of us in our day to day lives become passionate about something. When we become passionate about something we try to learn as much as there is to learn about the subject. Some of us take for granted the knowledge that we acquire on a day to day basis in this industry.

If you sit back in your office chair or wherever you might be right now, what are you taking for granted that you might be knowledgeable on? What knowledge do you have, that you consider yourself passionate about., which someone might be willing to pay for?

I’m a big supporter of the idea of using what you know to make money. Once you do that you can reap the rewards of selling that expertise and appropriating the profits to other aspects of affiliate marketing.

Many marketers distribute their knowledge and expertise on a subject by way of ebooks. They then take the lists they build by selling or giving away this information and build a residual traffic and income source. For list building purposes, I’m not saying to sit down and write a 60 page ebook that takes you 3 months to write. But think about a quick guide you can write that would be beneficial to someone else.

Now this could be something totally unrelated to affiliate marketing. Remember, you are trying to build a list. So write it for your target audience.

Here are some ideas to get those wheels turning to make money from what you know. Now these ideas don’t have to pertain to other affiliate marketers. Your ebook could target the soccer moms or the coupon cutters, which in turn you hit up with a savings club offer or a gift card email submit. The possibilities are endless but here are just a few to get you started.

1.) Look to Magazines: What are the current things people are looking to read. Most of the time, people buy a magazine on an impulse. What are the magazine headlines printing? Look to trade publications for the audience you want to market too. Find the magazines in your demographics.

2.) Forums: One of the best resources for ideas on eBooks, are what questions are people asking on forums? What are people searching for? What do they want to know?

3.) What is your Hobby? If you enjoy something and spend time doing it, chances are you know something about it and someone else wants to get into the hobby as well.

4.) What do your friends ask your help with (Besides making money online)? Guess what, that’s a hint that you know something someone else wants to learn about.

Again the possibilities are endless in what you are an expert in and are passionate about.

Wouldn’t it have been easier when you started to learn about something if someone had written an ebook about it?

How much would have you paid to skip all the searching and just had the answers right in front of you?

Use your knowledge to your advantage cause chances are someone else wants to learn the same thing and you can build a list from it.
