Day after day, I see people I know posting on popular industry forums. I also see these people getting eaten alive by the veteran members and sent home in tears. So here are a few rules for the road! Read some threads before you post and get an idea of what you’re getting yourself into. Read the rules of the forum, just because your boss says you need to drum up some sales, doesn’t mean the world wants to read your pitch. If you don’t know what you’re talking about be up front about it. Whatever you do don’t try BS and act cool. If I have to read one more post about how someone thinks using “six grenade perk” in MW2 is the best strategy I will kill the poster. (No noobs there is not a six grenade perk). Stop telling me about why I need to work with you, and maybe in the appropriate section, explain why I would want to work with you!

I see something similar to this one, on a popular email forum about every three months –
If this is your post, or you have ever posted anything like it, well basically you need to die…

“Looking for Data Partner
I have a double optin list over 100 million subscribers in the last 6 months; I have made six digits every month with list and am now looking for partners.”
While this example is extreme – let’s break it down
Double Optin (this would mean they double optin’ed to you – not me) I would need to re confirm them for them to be double optin!
Over 100 million subscribers in the last 6 months – Bull shit, unless it happens to be facebook
I have made six digits every month with this list – Yes, then it is gold and you should keep it to yourself. With that kind of internet money why are we even IM’ing?

And yet another example:
I love this one, new AM’s always try it.
“You’re an idiot if you don’t work with us…”
My reaction – “Fuck you; I am an idiot put your boss on the phone dummy”

Fact of the matter is, there is no shame in being a noob..be open and respectful and the veterans are likely to help you out! Or at your own peril..be a chooch and we will pwn u!
