5 Things You Can Learn from My Fat Ass

55 Comments 14 June 2010

I love magazines. Love them. They seem to call to me from the stands. Their pages have something to say to me, secrets to share. They hold the information that I need to know.

Now that summer is upon us – I’m grabbing for all the headlines that read:

Bikini Body in 3 Easy Moves

Sculpted Body by Summer

Miracle Amount of Chocolate takes away all Cellulite

Get Hot and Why Your Not . . . already

The thinking is, that these quick articles will show me how to easily whip my ass into shape before I stroll down the beach.

A quick, easy and doable answer is what I’m after.

Show me quick methods and even quicker results.

The funny thing is – all the articles boil down to what I already know. Eat fewer calories that you take in and burn of the excess with exercise.

Simple and easy to understand solutions – but not necessarily quick or without hard work.

I think what I’m trying to say, by pointing out my need to drop a few pounds, is that this is the same for affiliate marketing.

You can read the how to’s over and over. You can subscribe to newsletters, programs and classes.

When it comes down to it – you need to do it and YES it will take hard work.

So, here are some tips you can use to stay on track for your summer shape up diet, or to get started working for yourself in affiliate marketing:

Find What Works For You – Like diets there are a ton of methods out there. Try one and see if it works. Keep your foods and offers diverse and keep trying new things as you become successful.

Plan of action – The best way for me to attack my diet is to plan my meals for the week and pre make the food. That way, when I get hungry I have something to grab for. Instead of the cheeseburger, fries and chocolate shake I really want.

Have that prepared goal in your marketing plan. First, I’m going to try this. This is my expectation for the campaign to be successful. Then I’m going to try this offer via another marketing method. If this works in a few days, I’ll go to step 4.

That way when something else comes up, you have a plan to refer too.

Dedicate Time – If I don’t set aside time to work out, guess what I don’t do it. If you are already a full time marketer at home, this time frame is important as well.

You need that separation. Time to work and time to play. Working from home can sometimes over run your life. You need the time to work – but don’t work all the time.

Dedicate a Place – Whether you work out at a gym or downstairs in your basement, having a spot for that purpose helps you tune out everything else.

A dedicated place helps because when you need the break from work you can close the door and walk away. It also is a place to keep everything you need to be successful together.

Keep going, results will come – I know that each time I say no to that piece of chocolate and choose to take the stairs instead of the elevator, I’m getting closer to being seen in public with a bathing suit on.

Affiliate Marketing takes the same hard work and dedication. It’s not always an over night thing, but the results and profits will be well worth all the time and effort you put in.
