What’s your story?
On my way to work today I was recalling how I fell ass backwards into this industry. I started in Graphic Design and had a job maintaining the company website. The lone affiliate manager quit and walked out. My boss turned to me and asked, “Can you do this?”
Now I knew nothing about online marketing at the time. But I took the job and went home and read everything I could possibly find on affiliate marketing. Back then, there wasn’t much. But this August will be eight years for me in this industry and I’ve never looked back.
I’ve had the opportunity to talk to quite a few people in the biz. I usually try to find out how they got involved in affiliate marketing. Like me, most of you have fallen into this industry on a path to somewhere else.
So I thought I’d ask for a shortened version of your story. Whether you are an affiliate, affiliate manager or whatever – How did you get into affiliate marketing?

I was in the telesales industry until I got burned out. One of my friends started an affiliate network, and I got into the business through him.
Got banned from adwords and looked for alternative ways to monetize the websites I had at the time…when I found out how much money people were making I dropped all my websites and started PPC.
I was 20 and was working for a couple of guys who were making mad money with an affiliate product. After working for them for 2 years, I figured out how they were doing it and thought, “Why not me?”
