Over the years there have been hundreds of holiday movies made. I was sitting in my family room watching a few of them this weekend and I started to think, “What GetAds All-Stars reminded me of famous holiday movie characters. “

So as I’ve thought long and hard about this (with some help) here is my cast of characters! Enjoy:

Mike Guida: Clark Griswold from Christmas Vacation. Always making me laugh.

Lou Difulvio: Willie from Bad Santa. Need I say more?

Jamie Stephenson: Ralphie from A Christmas Story. He still wants the red ryder bb gun.

Nicole Aranda: Lucy from A Charlie Brown Christmas. Loves pulling the football back before you kick it.

Dillon Sloan: Kevin McCallister from Home Alone. The little guy always ends up alone and in trouble.

Caryn Stoll: Ghost of Christmas Present from Scrooged. She can pack a punch!

Beau Hadwiger: Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation. For some reason I can picture him outside in a bath robe with a beer while still looking good.

JP Pineda: Rudolph from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. He’s not scared to be his own person and will always lead when it is foggy outside.

Vince Chavez: Bernard the Elf from The Santa Clause. No its not because his height. It’s because he works endless hours behind the scene to make sure everything runs smooth!

Cassandra Bojoh: Jesse from Toy Story 2 & 3. She would have made an awesome Cowgirl!

Joelle File: Minnie Mouse from Mickey’s Christmas Carol. She is straight Disney.

Hoang Nguyen: Frosty from Frosty The Snowman. He tries to have as much fun as possible.

Roxanne Turner: Mary Bailey from It’s A Wonderful Life. She always stands by family no matter what.

George Avery: John McClane from Die Hard. A man of action!

I hope you enjoyed this and we wish you and your family a Happy and Safe Holiday Season.

10 hour flight, killer jetlag, endless walking; those are just the minor details of this prosperous trip. This past week, Patrick Avery and I travelled across the Atlantic Ocean to London for Adtech. We found the show to be a huge success for us on many levels. For those of you who have been in this industry for a while, and have been to endless and uncountable shows here in the US, you might just think that this was just another show: same old same old. However, you would be wrong. I am somewhat new to experiencing international shows, I’ve attended Adtech London twice, but I find that they offer something unique and quite different. I have been working long and hard to get us an international presence and it was at this show that I can truly see it paying off. Traditionally I have noticed that Adtech in the states has a fast “in, out and on your way” feel about it, almost as if it’s lost a bit of personal connection. You’re there to check out the booths, visit a few people, and maybe attend a few parties. The London show was a lot more accommodating for personal connect, and really had an emphasis on being present. The room was filled with booths but offered a lot more space for personal meetings; they offered the space right in the middle of the conference as well which even if you were not exhibiting made you feel like you were involved in the process. The show was also conveniently located next to a small range of cafés, pubs and restaurants, so even when you left the premises you still felt like you were involved. Everywhere for a 2 block radius was full of Adtech attendees and personal and group meetings taking place.

Another thing I noticed was that people are much more inclined to pull you off the floor and ask about what you do. I feel that the US shows just don’t have people do that as much. There is no fear and everyone seems interested in seeing what business can be done together It is amazing to think how much we limit ourselves by just staying confined to what we know. There is a whole world of opportunity out there and money just waiting to be made.

I would like to consider Adtech London a huge success for GetAds and I look forward to attending next year as well as exploring other international shows.

While perusing the internet, I came upon an article titled, Why Athletes Make Great Employees. These are some of the stellar qualities that convert from the playing field to the workplace….

Results oriented

Focused

Handles pressure well

Always striving to improve

Coachable and willing to learn

Knows how to execute a game plan

Aggressive or assertive

Strong work ethic

Understands importance of preparation

High energy level

Strong character

Self-motivated

Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Can make pressure decisions

Understands accountability

Seeks and loves a challenge

Reading this list, you may as well describe the “gamers” here at GetAds. Most of our employees are presently athletes, or were growing up (does Yearbook club count?) and it really shows around here. To keep the energy moving and the mind sharp, we play. After a few intense hours of dedicated work, it’s time for a bit of…..

Let’s get one thing straight! There is no such thing as a legit CPA Approval Service. One search online will show countless posts for people offering their “services” and people looking for such help.

“Pay x amount of dollars for each account approved.”

“I will create a website optimized for CPA approval.”

“I can fill out CPA applications and do the phone calls to the networks for you or you can do them yourself and I will tell you what to say.”

I understand there are some newbies who feel the need to get assistance getting into a network and not all are plotting fraud…but I would say 9 times out of 10 they are. Sites like Freelancer.com allow projects such as these to be posted without any restrictions. Most forums will ban you for posting or requesting services such as these. As an affiliate manager who handles fraud first hand regularly, it is becoming easier to spot these services and deny such applications to our network.

If you are concerned about getting into a network, the most important thing is to be yourself! Be honest about everything, where you are at with your affiliate marketing and you should have no problem. Most networks don’t require that you have websites. So, if you have an established site, that’s great. If not, don’t worry about it and certainly don’t make a crappy site just to have one (that’s more obvious). If you can’t manage to get your own real accounts…how can you expect to make real money?

Back in June, I read an article in Search Engine Land, a site which I’m sure you PPC and SEO junkies read religiously. It was titled “How Mark Zuckerberg Stole Your Search Traffic & What To Do About It.” I mean, honestly, in the affiliate world, stolen traffic is enough to start an uproar, especially if billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is in the mix. After reading the article, (which you should probably read as well) it made perfect sense. He did steal that traffic from those poor webmasters just so they would stay on his site, and then we, as affiliate marketers, want top dollar (if you’re lucky enough not to get booted from Facebook) to get them back to us where, in all honesty, is where they belong until they sign up for or buy whatever we’re selling.

So how did this happen? Did Zuckerberg use massive brain power to force millions of websites to push his product for free? Does he posses the telepathic powers only seen in the likes of Professor X? Is he really the mastermind behind The Nazca Lines of Peru? Maybe, and just maybe, he capitalized on the world’s laziness… more often than not, I hear about affiliates making landing pages, testing new designs to increase conversions and inventing just downright genius ways to get more sign ups. But why do they stop there? Why not build a brand around all your hard work? If you have an email list, why not brand it as a newsletter? (Hint: mailers) If you make landers, spend a few extra hours to SEO it and sign people up for a newsletter so you can become a mailer, and then later take my advice and brand it as a newsletter. The list is endless, but, in almost all web ventures it is not a case of “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it,” it’s more….. “if it isn’t broken, look closer.”

Between the gorgeous weather and good booth location in the show space, it was said to be one of the best shows ever. This was Cassandra’s second time at a show and she emphasized how nice it is to get to meet with affiliates face to face and get to know them better as people and outside of just “offer talk.” Check out the pictures below of ASE11 life in the Big Apple, GetAds style:
